FAQ

1. When should I see an ENT specialist?

You should see an ENT specialist if symptoms such as sore throat, ear noises, hearing loss or a blocked nose persist for more than a week or keep recurring.

2. Do I need a referral to see an ENT specialist?

As a rule, patients with statutory health insurance do not need a referral and can make an appointment at our practice in Heidelberg directly.

3. What examinations does an ENT specialist carry out?

The most common examinations include hearing tests (audiometry), endoscopic examinations of the nose and throat, as well as balance tests.

4. What helps with tinnitus (ear noises)?

The treatment depends on the cause. Hearing therapy, relaxation techniques and individual counselling are frequently used.

5. How do I recognise sinusitis?

Typical symptoms include pressure in the face, headaches, a blocked nose and a reduced sense of smell.

6. What can I do about a blocked nose?

In addition to decongestant nasal sprays, nasal rinses and inhalations can also help. For persistent symptoms, we recommend a medical examination.

7. How does a hearing test work?

A hearing test is painless and only takes a few minutes. You listen to various tones through headphones and indicate when you can hear them.

8. Can hearing loss be cured?

This depends on the cause. Some forms can be treated, while others can be compensated for with hearing aids or therapies.

9. What should I do about a sore throat?

Drinking plenty of fluids, resting your voice and warm drinks can help. If the symptoms persist, a medical examination should be carried out.

10. Do you also treat allergies?

Yes, our ENT practice offers allergy diagnostics and individual therapies, e.g. for hay fever.

11. What is an endoscopic examination?

A thin, flexible instrument is used to examine the nose, throat or larynx in detail. The examination is generally well tolerated.

12. How quickly can I get an appointment?

We endeavour to offer appointments as promptly as possible – particularly for acute complaints.

13. What do I need to bring to my appointment?

Please bring your health insurance card and any existing findings or medical reports if available.

14. Do you also treat children?

Yes, we treat patients of all ages – children are very welcome at our practice.

15. Where is the practice located?

Our ENT practice is centrally located in Heidelberg and is easily accessible – both by public transport and by car.
